Physical Culture ("Physie") is a movement and dance-based sport for girls and women. Geraldton Physie is part of the Lea School of Physical Culture which currently has 6 clubs in the Eastern States of Australia.

Geraldton Physie offers classes for the following age groups:
Tiny Tots: 5 - 7 year olds 4:00pm - 4:45pm
Teeny Boppers: 8 - 12 year olds 4:45pm - 5:30pm
Ladies 5:30pm - 6:15pm

Each class is designed to increase strength, fitness, flexibility and co-ordination, within a highly social and fun environment. A key strength of Physie is its emphasis on developing self-confidence and positive self-esteem. No prior dance experience is necessary. 

Over the course of a year, participants learn 4 different routines to modern music of contrasting styles, each with a slightly different focus:
Deportment: posture and control
Exercises: accuracy, stretching and strength
Rhythm and Floor: flexibility and gracefulness
Dance: co-ordination and aerobic fitness

All classes are held on Tuesday afternoons during school Terms 1,2 and 3. All classes start on Tuesday 9th February 2016. 

Classes are of 45 minutes duration, and are held in the church hall of Geraldton Anglican Cathedral, 101 Cathedral Avenue, Geraldton,, The hall is just behind the cathedral. There is ample parking, and an enclosed grassy play area attached to the hall should you need to keep younger siblings safe and happy during an older child's lesson. You are more than welcome to stay for the duration of your child's lesson.

Participants may wear bike pants/tights/sports skirt/shorts and t-shirt of their choice to classes. For beginners, and soft split-soled ballets or even anklet socks are adequate. For the club competition at the end of the year (non-compulsory), younger girls wear a high-necked club leotard and silver soft split-soled ballet shoes. Similarly, ladies may wear any comfortable clothing to classes, and a dark blue club polo shirt. black skirt, black 3/4 tights, shimmer tights and silver soft split-soled ballet shoes for performances. A range of new and second hand leotards are available for purchase during the term at classes. Club shirts may also be ordered for $20 (girls) and $25 (ladies) plus postage. Ballet shoes may be purchased from Gymnastic 'N' Dance World, Geraldton for approx $45. Occasionally, only pink ballet shoes are available, this is not a problem as they can easily be sprayed with silver spray. Shimmer tights are also able to be ordered from Gymnastic 'N' Dance World - please enquire as to price (size dependant).

Classes for all ages are $7 each with an annual registration fee of $50 to cover insurance, APRA fees and purchase of materials. Classes must be paid for on the day, or (preferably) in advance per term. Payment forms can be downloaded from our website, and brought completed along with payment to your first lesson. Payment may be by cash, or cheque made payable to Faye School of Physical Culture Geraldton Branch, no EFTPOS facilites.

Term 1: Tues 9th Feb - Tues 5th April 9 classes $63
Term 2: Tues 26th April - Tues 28th June 10 classes $70
Term 3: Tues 19th July - Tues 20th September 10 classes $70

Pre-registration is not essential, however registration forms can also be downloaded from our website and brought to the first class. Places are limited, so to ensure your place please contact Virginia Grice 0422 262 098 prior to Tuesday 9th February 2016.

Participants are encouraged to participate in a club competition at the end of the year, where all participants are rewarded for their efforts over the year. More information will be made available closer to the time.
