Celebrating 20 years, Planet Ark’s Schools Tree Day takes place every year in July and is a chance for school students to learn about planting and do something positive for the environment.

Local students from Mullewa District High School will be joined by expert team members from Bunnings Warehouse Geraldton, who will teach the students about gardening as they plant trees and talk to them about sustainability.

Planet Ark’s National Tree Day Manager Debbie Agnew said Schools Tree Day is the largest nature care event in Australian schools and it's not just about trees.

“Schools are branching out in many ways to get their students into nature. They can beautify and green their school ground, start a vertical garden or vegie patch, grow seeds in their class and go on a bush walk as well our lesson plans being aligned with the existing curriculum. There's many ways to take part and you can grow so much,” Debbie said.

Bunnings Warehouse Geraldton Complex Manager Nat Kennedy said the team enjoy getting out to different schools every year to plant trees with the students.

“The team are really looking forward to celebrating Schools Tree Day with Mullewa District High School students. We can’t wait to dig in with the kids and do something positive for the environment!” Nat said.
