Child throwing rocks at truck carrying explosives charged

While this incident occurred in Meekathara, Geraldton residents will be pleased to know the Police are taking incidents like this seriously with the recent multiple reports of rock throwing at vehicles here in town.

Meekatharra police have charged a 10 year old boy after the window of truck was smashed as it was travelling along Great Northern Hwy.

At around 3.15pm yesterday, the driver was travelling in his road train along Great Northern Highway.

As he approached the Meekatharra townsite, he noticed some children standing on the verge.

It will be alleged that the boy used a slingshot to fire a rock at the truck, which then smashed the passenger side window and showered the driver with glass.

The driver did a good job of maintaining control of the truck – he was transporting explosives at the time.

Police have charged a 10 year old boy with Causing Fear or Alarm to A Driver Of a Conveyance.
