About the position:
The Senior Development Compliance Officer assists with the coordination of the City’s Development Compliance team to ensure the City’s obligations and functions are carried out in a legal, professional and efficient manner as well as ensuring the development industry complies with relevant local government, town planning and building legislation. The position provides compliance advice to the Manager Urban and Regional Development and the Director Development and Community Services through the Coordinator Development Compliance and assists with the attainment of Council’s objectives relating to the development of the municipality.
- Routinely monitor and inspect development across the City.
- Liaise with the City’s Solicitors and represent the City in legal proceedings as required.
- Ensure compliance with the relevant development legislation.
- Respond to general enquiries/complaints (personal, written or telephone) relating to development compliance.

The successful applicant should have and an understanding of the issues related to development in regional Western Australia (especially in the Mid-West region), as well as sound knowledge and appreciation of relevant development legislation within Western Australia and previous experience in the development industry. Comprehensive written, verbal and interpersonal skills for negotiation and communication with customers and the public are essential.
Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.
Remuneration and benefits:
A salary of $71,053 per annum or $35.9581 per hour will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
