Job tasks and responsibilities include:

The applicant must hold a Diploma in Education and Care or equivalent ACECQA approved qualification, a current Working with Children's check and a current “HLTAID004 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting” or willing to complete.

Since 1950 Geraldton Fishermen’s Co-operative (GFC) has supplied premium-quality Western Rock Lobster, commonly known as crayfish here in Western Australia, to customers both domestically and across the globe. GFC’s members, fishing along a thousand kilometres of WA coastline, take pride in their Brolos brand, motivating them to catch and produce the world’s best rock lobster product. As a Co-operative, GFC exists to maximise value to its members.

Recently, GFC acquired the iconic “Barnacles on the Wharf” for which we are seeking candidates for a casual Cook to join our team at the retail outlet on Fishermen’s Wharf, West End Geraldton. This is a diverse, challenging and thoroughly rewarding role at a fascinating time.

To be considered for this role you will need to be available to work mostly mornings through to the lunch trade, with some evenings (Friday) and Saturdays on a rotating basis.

Work experience:

  • At least one to three years’ experience in a fast paced environment.

Skills:

  • Certificate III in Commercial cookery or Hospitality

  • Industry recognised Food Handling Certificate

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to forward plan to ensure supplies meet demand

  • Reliability, self-motivation and a strong work ethic

Job Task:

  • Ensure consistent and smooth running of food production

  • Ensure sufficient stock purchase, its receipt, and storage

  • Ensure that work areas are always kept clean

  • Assist other kitchen staff as need arises

  • Monitor the quality and quantity of food prepared

  • Prepare and plan menus, estimate food requirements

  • Preparing and cooking food for customers

  • Ability to manage temperature checks, cleaning charts and food freshness

  • Portions and wastage Control

  • Knowledge of stocktaking
