"Remember the beautiful Debutante Balls held in the Geraldton Town Hall. This was the Anglican Deb Ball held in 1961, the debs were trained by Miss Doreen Dawson and presented to Bishop Frewer, the Anglican Bishop of the North West. Not only was the hall packed downstairs but the upstairs gallery would be full of family members of the debs. The gallery of the Town Hall was always packed with people keen to view the proceedings and fashions of balls held at the venue and one of the most popular annual events was the presentation of the Miss Sunshine entrants and the crowning of Miss Sunshine."
