80 y/o woman missing in bush near Mullewa- survived freezing temperatures

An extensive land search was co-ordinated by WA Police overnight on Friday 19 July 2013 and into the morning of Saturday 20 July 2013 after an 80 year old Mullewa woman was reported missing by her daughter after failing to return following a regular walk.

Police resources from Geraldton Police Station including officers specifically trained in land search co-ordination and a police dog were dispatched to Mullewa and in conjunction with local police, the State Emergency Service and community volunteers mounted a search in bushland and farming properties.

Fortunately the missing woman was located by the search team at about 9.00am on Saturday after spending the night in the elements. She informed the search party that she became lost during her walk, and just kept herself moving to keep warm during the night.

She was treated by St John’s Ambulance and conveyed to Mullewa Hospital for a health assessment.
