On Australia Day 2015 the Foreshore will be alive with festivities and packed with your fellow Australians. This Australia Day we are celebrating more than a country, we are celebrating a community that is 26 million strong and growing.
1. Welcome to Country
10am Main Stage
The City of Greater Geraldton values all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Their culture is acknowledged through a Welcome to Country which will be presented by Amangu Elder Mr Graham Taylor. The Amangu People would like to welcome all new Australians to Yamaji Country.
2. Citizenship Ceremony
10.05am Stow Gardens
The City of Greater Geraldton willwelcome new citizens on AustraliaDay. The City will hold a Citizenship Ceremony at Stow Gardens with applicants from all over the world becoming proud Australians on this special day, a memorable day as they become an Australian on the Nation’s birthday.This will be followed by the national anthem with Sing Australia, flag raisingceremony with the TS MorrowCadets and Batavia Coast PipeBand.
3. Australia Day Awards in Geraldton and Mullewa
11am Main Stage
The “Premier’s Australia Day Active Citizenship Awards 2015” will be awarded to local community members in both Geraldton and Mullewa.
4. Mullewa Australia Day celebrations
8am – 11am Mullewa Swimming Pool
Mullewa Australia Day celebrations are happening at the Mullewa Swimming Pool. It’sfree for all, with the pool opening at 8am and a bundle of entertainment. Come and enjoy the BBQ breakfast from 8am and the awards at 10am.
5. Woolworths Australia Day Ambassador Clint Heal address
11.30am – Stow GardensAt the age of just 22, Clinton Heal was diagnosed with Metastatic Melanoma. During the last eight years he has had over 30 secondary tumors removed from all over his body. When Clinton was initially diagnosed he discovered that there was nowhere to go for help, support or information in WA. He is the founder of Melanoma WA and was named Young Australian of the Year in 2011.
6. Ocean Swim Series
7am – 10am Champion Beach
Join the Champion Bay Surf Life Saving Club for the Surf Life Saving WA Ocean Swim Series. Categories include junior, team or individual. Registrations can be done on the day between 7am and 8am on the day or e-mail your interest to champions@westnet.com.au
7. Kids Beach Party
10am Champion Bay
Kicking off at 10am where kids can join in all the fun with bouncy castles, water slides and activity castles. Tuck into the tasty Australia Day cake, baked by the GG Prison Chefs.

8. City of Greater Geraldton’s Sand Sculpture Competition
9am – 3pm – Front Beach
Form a team of 4 to create an amazing sand sculpture and bag a prize.
First Prize: $2,000
Second Prize: $1,000
Third Prize: $500
Watch WA sand sculpture Extraordinaire’s Tim Darby, Erika Monique and Roxanne Grant. Sponsors WBHO Civil and Patience Sandland will be on the judging panel.
9. City of Greater Geraldton’s Youth Hangout
2pm – 6pm – In front of the GYC
Come down one and all, to the foreshore CBD. Hangout with all your friends, feel the Gero breeze and listen to the music as you’re relaxing by the sea. Wear you Aussie colours because it’s the place to be. The Youth Hangout space you’ll want to be there for sure.
And when the day is finished you will be asking for more!
10. Rotary Club of Geraldton Seniors’ Afternoon Tea and Concert
2pm – 4pmQEII Centre
Seniors of the Midwest are welcomed to join the Rotary Club of Geraldton to enjoy a FREE afternoon tea and to enjoy live performances by the Geraldton City Band and other entertainers.

15. Men’s Shed Demonstrations
10am – 2pm, 13 Foreshore Drive
The Geraldton Men’s Shed will be open with demonstrations between 10am and 2pm.
See demonstrations of wood turning, creating bush instruments and project display. Products will be for sale and members on hand to provide information about what the Men’s Shed does. Located at 13 Foreshore Drive.
