Northampton Art Prize

  • Northampton, WA, Australia (map)

The Northampton Historical Society has agreed to host the Northampton Art Prize once again at this year’s AIRING OF THE QUILTS, Saturday October 10th 2015. We once again acknowledges the ongoing support of long-time sponsor Mr Murray Criddle, whose non-acquisitive $500 prize will be “PEOPLE’S CHOICE” this year.

Wishing to mark the 100th anniversary of ANZAC Day, they have chosen the theme “I Am Australian”… taken from the iconic song by the same name. This song was chosen to serve as inspiration because it widely represents Australia and its people; past and present.

Without the contribution and sacrifices made over the past 100 years by all our service men and women we would not be enjoying the freedom that this wonderful country offers.

Artworks not exceeding one square metre in size and completed in any traditional painting or drawing mediums will be accepted. Eg: oils, acrylics, watercolours, pastels, inks and mixed media etc. Mixed Media - In this instance the term ‘mixed media’ refers to works complete using more than one of the traditional fine art mediums mentioned above. The works may include collage and applied textures as a base from which to work but the majority of the artwork must be completed using some form of hand-rendering. Craft-based textile art and fabric wall hangings etc. will not qualify as it is too difficult to judge them against the more traditional art mediums.

Artwork (along with $5 entry fee per entry) to be at Chiverton House Museum in Northampton by Mon. 5th Oct.
