Waitangi Day

  • Foreshore Foreshore Drive Geraldton, WA, 6530 Australia (map)

We have the day time festival kicking off at 10am. Our festival is about commemorating the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi that happened on the 6th of February 1840 essentially a founding document of New Zealand.

To ensure our festival had great stalls and acts our festival had to be held on 21st February instead of the 6th of February.

The festival is to celebrate indigenous, culture, kinship and community.

Hula Magic a Cook Island performing arts group was a massive hit last year and they are back along with other awesome cultural groups new to Geraldton.

We then have a performance from ‘Box Party and the Brofessionals’ at the Wintersun from 7pm, they will also be performing during the day.

Paula Parore-Petera from the Box Party band was runner up on the Voice. She also sung the New Zealand national anthem at the Bledisloe Cup in Brisbane.
