Kids Hub are very excited to be bringing a Nature Play Date, to Geraldton, with Nature Play WA CEO, Griffin Longley!
Our Nature Play Date is about informing and inspiring parents, educators and early years professionals to move and play in the outdoors with children and provide opportunity for exposure to risky play that promotes decision making , cognitive development , social development and of course physical development. This theme will explore the benefits of nature play and comes from the understanding that unstructured outdoors play is fundamental for a full and healthy childhood.
A Professional Development Day will be held on Saturday the 22nd of August.
The days Program consists of –
1. Introduction to Nature Play
Themes: The changing nature of childhood; Why risky play is important; key research in the field.
Presenter: Griffin Longley, Nature Play WA CEO
2. Nature and Learning
Themes: Research on why learning in nature is important, What are children passionate about?, how do children respond in nature, benefits to the brain of being in nature, Hands on activities on play motifs, and “Motivating Species”. This workshop links to the National Quality Standards.
Presenter: Daniel Burton, teacher at Bold Park Community School, and Nature Play Consultant
3. Loose Parts Play
Themes: What is Loose Parts Play? What the benefits are for children to engage in loose parts play, and how to get started in your space. This workshop has links to the National Quality Standards.
Presenters: Angie West & Kate Foster, Early Childhood Consultants from Kids Hub Training and Consultancy.
These workshops will benefit all Early years professionals and has links to the National Quality Standards.
