On Friday the 22nd April, Earth Day, Katy Garry and Gina Soos from the US Embassy are visiting the Midwest. They've also made an hour from 3:30 to 4:30pm to drop in to CityHive when members of Pollinators and MWSEG can:
Learn about current U.S.-Australia programs in their fields or related fields where they could engage.
Get a briefing on global programs that the United States government is developing in their fields of expertise. For example, Our Oceans, the Global Entrepreneurship Summit, and others. For these programs, the US government often nominates candidates from other countries to attend.
Katy is the Environment, Science, Technology, and Health (ESTH) Officer from the Embassy in Canberra and is keen to understand 'cool and interesting' things in our region. She has already made appointments to look at renewable energy projects, health research, sustainable fisheries and environmental groups.
The US Embassy is active in supporting local events and activities that align with US programs, priorities and opportunities. An example is West Tech Fest where the US Ambassador and Embassy were major supporters of an "Innovation Roundtable" event.
