Tell me more about the artists!
From Triple J!
Boy and Bear
Boy & Bear have just gotten bigger and better since first delighting our ears via triple j Unearthed in 2009. These five-time ARIA winners are one of Australia's hardest touring bands (clocking up 170 shows across three continents in 2014 alone!) gifted with a rare ability to make massive arenas feel like the most intimate of venues. Deconstructing their folk rock sound for album #3, Limit Of Love, proved a winner too. The result: 'Walk The Wire' earned them their eighth Hottest 100 appearance, following favourites like 'Southern Sun' and 'Feeding Line'. Arriving fresh to the party after another lap of the UK and Europe, expect to make some golden One Night Stand memories with this lot. Oh boy, oh boy, oh Boy & Bear. We can't wait!
Boy & Bear will be welcoming the one-and-only Bernard Fanning to plug in live with them. The formerPowderfinger frontman will no doubt provide major tingles when he jumps up for a song (or a few - fingers crossed).
Alison Wonderland
From young star DJ of the Sydney circuit to one of the nation's most in-demand electronic artists, Alison Wonderland's profile has skyrocketed in recent years. In 2015, she dropped her J Award nominated debut,Run, an album stocked with huge drops and filthy beats but also serious songcraft. Currently dishing up her unique bangers to international festivals and venues on another US tour, Alison's set to light up the One Night Stand skyline with her titanic stage production. If you haven't yet witnessed AW's A+ live show, some advice: bring some sh*t you can lose!
Joining Alison Wonderland on the One Night Stand stage will be SAFIA vocalist Benjamin Joseph, Patience Hodgson from The Grates, on-the-rise Unearthed favourite Jess Kent, and Sydney singerBRAVE (who appeared on Run album closer 'Already Gone').
Urthboy
Socially conscious and musically progressive, Urthboy is a musical dreamboat. We couldn't be happier to be having another One Night Stand with him a decade after he dazzled Port Pirie as part of The Herd. This smart-brained, sharp-tongued MC/producer is armed with one of Australia's most enviable hip hop songbooks and will be hitting the stage with a swag of new material from his fifth album, The Past Beats Inside Me Like A Second Heartbeat.
His link-up with Bertie Blackman on 'Long Loud Hours' landed him at #33 in last year's Hottest 100 and she's one of a few pals that will gatecrash Urhtboy's set. Also joining him for some special collabs will be the powerful Kira Puru and Zambia-via-Sydney MC Sampa The Great.
Alex The Kid
Hailing from coastal WA town 'Geraldton', Alex the Kid now span throughout the midwest playing shows regularly between regional WA and Perth city. Since their inception the band has been non-stop writing, recording and partying. With two EPs, a split with Brisbane's 'Columbus' and many regional tours and a national tour under their belt, the Geraldtonians are looking to drop big new music in 2016 with their debut album currently being mixed and mastered by Dan Florez in Massachusetts for a winter release.
