About the position:

The Youth Vibrancy Officer is responsible for developing and delivering a range of activities after school hours and during school holidays that are designed to activate key locations for young people and will contribute towards making Geraldton a vibrant and engaging place for young people to live, work and play.

Additionally, this position will also be responsible for developing and delivering a range of activities including sporting, culture, arts and leisure activities at those key locations and is responsible for the coordination of an effective youth action group to assist in the development of key youth events.

This position is for a fixed term of 3 years on a part-time basis of 19 hours per week.

Key accountabilities:

·       Develop and deliver sport, arts and cultural and other recreation activities for youth.

·       Develop and deliver comprehensive school holiday programs.

·       Activate key locations for young people to participate in recreational activities.

Position requirements:

The successful applicant should have experience in delivering sport and recreation activities to young people and the ability to develop and deliver activities which will attract and engage young people. Additionally, this position requires well developed interpersonal skills with the ability to work within a team environment as well as strong time management skills.

Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.

Remuneration and benefits:

A salary of $62,664 per annum pro rata or $31.7125 per hour will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.

Professional Therapeutic Carer

Full Time Fixed Term

The Out of Home Care programme at Parkerville Children and Youth Care (Inc) provides a holistic, multi-disciplinary and therapeutic care service for vulnerable children. Our aim, as a team of committed staff, is to bring healing and growth to the lives of vulnerable children.

We are seeking an experienced a Professional Therapeutic Carer to provide therapeutic care to children who have experienced trauma from abuse. The position would ideally suit couples who do not have children who live at home, but appropriately qualified single people should also apply. Applications are particularly encouraged from Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people.

This is a live-in role in one of our group homes in Geraldton, working 11 days on and 3 days off roster. You will work in a residential setting and play a pivotal role in the day to day life of the children in your care by providing support and care to guarantee a positive, homely environment. This will involve everyday tasks such as preparing meals, arranging clothing/laundry, driving to/from school and out of school activities, watching the children play sport and ensuring their home is clean and tidy.

To be considered, you must have previous direct care experience working alongside children with a trauma history and/or a relevant Human Services qualification. You must be able to genuinely demonstrate empathy, guidance, respect and patience at all times. It is imperative you can work with minimum supervision and be highly self-motivated in this demanding yet rewarding role.
