Man dies after Saturday's NWCH crash

A 65 year old man has died as a result of the head-on collision that occurred on Saturday morning at Howatharra, on North West Coastal Highway.

Desmond James Lumby, of Scarborough, was one of two men seriously injured in the crash and taken to Perth by the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

The collision of two utilities, one travelling southbound and one northbound, occurred on a crest of a hill with a slight bend in the road.

A 31 year old Geraldton man also sustained serious injuries in the collision, but his name has not yet been released.

Investigations by the police major crash investigation squad into the cause of the accident are continuing.

With three road fatalities in the Mid West within the past two weeks, police are renewing their calls for all road users to drive carefully and use their headlights at all times on county roads.
