Local couple to walk 2100kms for suicide awareness

Mick and Rose Webber aren’t your typical couple. Together the pair have dedicated themselves to raising money and awareness for suicide awareness.

In July this year, Mick and Rose will walk a gruelling 2100km of the Canning Stock Route.

Their motto is “It’s Time to Talk” and their mission is “No Taboo more Acceptance”.

Rose and Mick said they have already secured some great sponsors.

“Yamaha once again have donated a generator for us, as well as ARB donating a roof top tent and air compressor,” Rose said.

“Then there is Gondwana Clothing supplying Mick and I with our clothes for our trek as well as Culinary HQ, and Blue Dog True Blue Jeans also donating their support.”

Rose said although they have some great sponsors, they need more support for the trip.

“Mick and I will be walking the whole distance, whilst we have two other people Saxon our son and Harley our nephew driving their 4WD to be there for us in case of emergencies,” Rose said.

“But we are in need of many more items for the trek.”

Rose said the overall goal for the pair taking on the walk was to raise as much awareness for suicide prevention as they possibly can.

“We are hoping to create awareness about suicide prevention, by getting people talking about us doing the trek then talking about the reasons behind it and breaking down the barriers of Suicide Taboo,” she said.

“Please look at our website www.suicideawareness.simplesite.com to see what we have achieved so far and what we are planning to do in 2014 if you can help in anyway then please call or email us. All our details are on the website ad we want to thank everyone for their support.”
