City to fog for mosquito control | City of Greater Geraldton

The City of Greater Geraldton will be spraying for mosquitoes along Marine Tce and Foreshore Dve from November 22 to December 6, weather permitting.

Following an increase in mosquito numbers, a fogging machine will be used in the late afternoon or early evening when mosquitoes are most active, and as soon as the wind speed drops below 15km/h.

Although the chemicals used in the fogging are not harmful, the City requests the public keep all doors and windows closed while the process is being undertaken.

The chemicals used will be: Aqua-K-Othrine, a pyrethroid based insecticide that does not leave residue in the environment or build up in the food chain; and Barmac Carmel Carrier not harmful to plants, not flammable and classified for use of pest control in residential areas.

Should the weather be inclement during the scheduled fogging period - such as severe wind or rain - fogging will be postponed until a later date.
