Department of Sport and Recreation | Geraldton girls compete in the National Indigenous Football Festival

The girls won the right to represent WA in the seven aside festival which was held over two days.

“The opportunity to represent WA had added excitement for the girls as it was their first time in an aeroplane and to visit another state,” said Sports Development Officer Adrian Bartlett, from the Department of Sport and Recreation Mid West.

Throughout the festival the team were exposed to traditional and cultural programs and workshops in self esteem, bullying and team building.

Adrian commended the girls saying “to play six games in two days against seasoned players from all around Australia is an extraordinary effort on behalf of the Geraldton girls”.
