Unfortunately... More delays to the Flores Rd/ Place Rd roadworks.

The City of Greater Geraldton has received advice from the principal contractor, WBHO, that asphalt supply and delivery to the above project has been delayed due to a breakdown of the local Geraldton production plant. Supply will not be available until the plant is operational.
Alternative supply sources from Perth have been considered, however these have been rejected by the City due to the transit time from Perth reducing temperatures of the asphalt for laying substantially below the critical recommended laying temperature.
At this time a date for bringing the plant back into operation is not available; it is nevertheless expected that a delay of up to two weeks is expected. Work not associated with asphalt laying will continue on site and as soon as the supply is restored work on completing the asphalt will resume.
The above delay is outside the control of the principal contractor and the City and cannot be avoided. The City regrets the delay and any inconvenience caused as a result.
As a result of the above delay the programmed practical completion date of January 23, has now been extended to February 1 2013 subject to asphalt supply being resumed.
