Upgrade to Mullewa Branch Library

Amalgamation has brought many benefits to the City of Greater Geraldton and among them is the upgrade of the Mullewa Branch Library.

City Manager of Libraries and Heritage, Susan Smith, said the Mullewa Branch Library now has public internet access as well as online services available, including Overdrive – e-books and audio books; and Your Tutor online homework help for Mullewa students from years 4-12.

“The Mullewa library now also enjoys an improved collection and access to a wider collection in-house,” she said.

“It has a local budget for selection of new books and magazines relevant to the needs of the Mullewa community.”

Mrs Smith said the amalgamation of the City of Greater Geraldton and the Shire of Mullewa in 2011 had allowed funds to be directed to the Mullewa Branch Library to service the community in a more inclusive way.

“The amalgamation funding has allowed professional assistance from librarians and a Heritage Services component with oral history, and the preservation of Mullewa’s history, making it more accessible through the digitisation of information and photographs,” she said.

“Mullewa now offers more library activity programs including Storytime Sessions, holiday activities and author visits.

“Library visitors can now enjoy a more comfortable visit with the installation of bright new furniture and display boards.” said Mrs Smith.
