Museum told perfectly good boat has to be destroyed, you can't have it

Although they don't want to pay any money for it, the WA Museum has asked if they can have the asylum seeker boat that arrived in Geraldton recently.
But after initially being led to believe it was possible, the folks at customs are now telling the museum the only possible method they have of disposing of the vessel is by destroying it.
According to The West Australian, no answers have been given as to why this vessel which poses no health risk and was fumigated recently, cannot be saved and kept on display.
Opposition border security spokesman Michael Keenan theorises that it might have more to do with leaving a permanent reminder of an event that the labour party would rather forget.
