Regarding the closure of Maley’s Bridge
/The City of Greater Geraldton are currently considering the future of Maley's bridge in Greenough.
They have advised us that no decision will be made however, until a bridge inspection is completed and the state of the bridge is determined.
The likely outcome is that the bridge will remain, but could potentially be closed to vehicles and another bridge or lower level culvert or floodway structure would be explored.
An upgrade to the existing bridge may be enough to allow vehicles to use it, but this will be dependant on the outcome of the report.
As you are probably aware, the bridge is of heritage significance which is why every effort will be made to keep the bridge, especially after restoration works were carried out in 2010 and 2011.
