Two Forums In One Day

By Gary Warner

Two very different public political forums are on offer in Geraldton
tomorrow (Wednesday 21).

In the afternoon, the Liberal Party’s shadow minister for immigration,
Scott Morrison, will meet with local residents to discuss their concerns in relation to the issues of immigration and Australia’s border security.

That forum will be held in POSH Events and Functions, adjoining Geraldton Yacht Club at 214 Marine Terrace, between 3pm and 4.30pm.

Concerns over another controversial issue, that of hydraulic fracturing, or Fracking, will be aired at a public forum which is touring the Mid West.

Lock The Gate Alliance, a national ‘grassroots’ organisation opposed to
fracking, is bringing member Annie Kia to relate her experiences in the eastern states, where farmers have successfully ‘locked the gate’ to prevent gas explorers entering their land.

It is due in Dongara Recreation Centre at 7pm tonight (Tuesday 20), Badgingarra Community Centre at 3pm Friday and Gingin on Saturday, while the Geraldton forum will be held at 7.30pm tomorrow (Wednesday) at Wonthella Bowling Club.
