Attention musicians! Music on the terrace kicking off for 2013/14

Applications for the Marine Terrace Performance Program, presented by the City of Greater Geraldton, are now open for the 2013-2014 performances.

The program will run from October 5, 2013 to May 29, 2014 where artists will showcase their music by the clock tower on Marine Terrace on Saturdays from 10am to 12pm and 12pm to 2pm, as well as Thursday nights from 5pm to 7pm.

City of Greater Geraldton Arts, Culture and Events Manager, Chris Budhan, said the program supports the development of emerging performers while activating public spaces.

“This is achieved through the provision of instructional and mentoring sessions for emerging performers at the Queens Park Theatre, this program raises opportunities for these artists to showcase their talents to the community,” said Mr Budhan.

“The Marine Terrace Performance Program is one of several art initiatives being presented by the City of Greater Geraldton and presents local artists and a limited number of touring professional artists.”

All local performers are paid $50 and additionally receive audience gratuities (tips), touring professional performers (up to eight per year) are offered a $500 retainer in consideration of their travel and accommodation needs.

Entertainers may repeat acts/poems/songs if necessary, as the audience will change. Chairs, electricity, a small PA system (with one microphone and four inputs) and water are available on site.
