Calling all artists

Recycled Christmas Art Project – Expression of Interest 2013 Festive Season Project

The City of Greater Geraldton is seeking Expressions of Interest from local artists to produce a temporary art work utilising recycled materials incorporating the City’s obsolete Christmas Street decorations to be installed in the CBD area.

The City is calling for installations that integrate and interact with the public and are themed around Christmas in a localised context and promote environmental sustainability. This might

include sculptural work, lighting and sound installations and other work that responds to the general theme.

The temporary works will be unique, exciting, contemporary and contribute to the vibrancy of the CBD. Works that invite audience participation are highly encouraged.

The City will provide and deliver its existing Christmas decorations to nominated address within Geraldton for the purposes of preconstruction.

The possible locations include any city owned public space in the CBD and should be within close proximity of Marine Tce. and will need to be completed and installed by 29 November 2013 and removed between 5 January and 7 January 2014.

The existing decorations are stored at the City workshop depot near the airport and can be viewed by appointment by contacting Steve Davidson on 9965 6774.
