Geraldton to welcome record number of new Australians at citizenship ceremony

Geraldton will be seeing its largest non-Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at the Queens Park Theatre.

Seventy-one people will become new Australian Citizens coming from 17 countries including the Philippines, South Africa, Britain, Netherlands, China, Antigua and Barbuda, Russia Federation, Singapore, Pakistan, Republic of Ireland, India, Mauritius, Uganda, Malaysia, Colombia, Zimbabwe and New Zealand.

City of Greater Geraldton Mayor, Ian Carpenter, said the Geraldton community embraces multiculturalism.

“It truly is amazing to see so many people choosing to become Australian Citizens and be part of Geraldton,” he said.
