Geraldton comedians to perform at Perth Fringe Festival

GERALDTON’S best local stand-up comedians will be performing on the world stage as part of this years 2014 Fringe World Festival in Perth. Comedians from Geraldton’s The Comedy Emporium and Kalgoorlie’s counterpart The Comedy Hour will travel to Perth to present the first ever REGIONAL WA COMEDY SHOWCASE at Rosie O'Grady's in Northbridge. The showcase is a one night only special on the 30th of January.

Julian Canny, Director of The Comedy Emporium said “This is one of the most exciting things to happen to Regional Comedy, for years we have been bringing comedians from the metro areas to perform regionally. It is about time that changed.”

Four comedians from Geraldton will join the showcase alongside comedians from Kalgoorlie and Esperance. Comedians lucky enough to be selected include local performers such as Lachlan Adam, Anne Marie Volpe, Julian Canny and Brian Pollard.

The team of comedians are up against a challenge as they need to attract an audience amongst all the international acts performing at Fringe World this year. “There are some amazing acts performing at Fringe this year. I would tell you about them but I want you to come to our show instead” quipped Julian Canny.

Both comedy clubs state that it will be a night to remember. “We are not going to travel all that way to just have a OK show. We are going to put a lot of effort in to make ourselves heard” Stated Luke Brown, Esperance based Comedian who will be making the long trip to Perth come January.

This will be the first time that a Regional WA Comedy Lounge has had a debut performance in Perth. With both respective comedy clubs working hard to develop the comedy scene in Regional WA, this venture aims to place organisations like The Comedy Emporium on the comedy touring map.

Tickets on sale from the Fringe World Website www.fringeworld.com.au $25ea. Limited tickets to this one night only event.
