Man hits security guard with car outside Vibe nightclub

photo Western Australia Police have reported an incident over the weekend involving a man hitting a security guard and a pole at the Vibe Nightclub in the early hours of Saturday morning.

"About 2:15am on Saturday 29 March 2014, Police received information that a man driving a car had struck a security officer and a pole outside the Vibe Nightclub in Geraldton, and that the vehicle and driver had left the scene.

Fortunately the security officer only received minor injuries and the damage to the building was minor in nature.

Police attended and conducted a search of the area. A Dog Squad unit located the vehicle that was believed to be involved abandoned near St Georges Beach, and Police Dog BEAR was deployed to search the area. Police Dog BEAR tracked a scent into some dunes, where a 28 year old man was found hiding in the dunes.

The man was taken into custody. He failed a breath test and inquiries into the incident are continuing."
