At the City of Greater Geraldton Ordinary Meeting of Council on December 18, 2012, Council resolved to give notice of its intent to seek Ministerial consent to vary regulated trading hours within the district of Greater Geraldton, to fully deregulate the hours of operation and trading for any business in the area.
The purpose of this deregulation is to allow all retail trading businesses regardless of their size, the option to open or close, at any time or day at their sole discretion.
Pursuant to the Retail Trading Hours Act 1987, the City is seeking public submissions on a proposal to apply fully deregulated hours of operation within the entire district of the City of Greater Geraldton.
A survey will be conducted of all Mid West Chamber of Commerce and Industry members and a random survey of residents to gauge public opinion.
All written submissions should be received no later than close of business on Friday 5 April, 2012.
