A female employee is significantly distressed after being held up at knife point at the Sunflower Deli in Marine Terrace, though fortunately physically unharmed.

At about 8:50am this morning a male person entered the Sunflower deli and approached the front counter where a female employee was present.

It is believed the male person brandished a knife at the female employee and demanded property.

The male person departed the store shortly thereafter. Inquiry is still being undertaken as to the full circumstances that transpired within the store.

Police were notified and as a result of immediate reactive strategies utilising Uniformed Police, Detectives and CCTV cameras a male person was located walking along Fitzgerald Street near the Batavia Motor Inn.

This man was arrested on suspicion of committing an attempted armed robbery and is currently assisting police with inquiries into this matter.
