Major Crash Investigation Section looking into Saturday's crash
/Police have issued an update following Saturday's serious crash, along with a plea for everyone to take care on the roads, this being the fourth major accident in two weeks in the area.
On Saturday 17 August 2013 at about 8:20am a serious crash occurred on North West Coastal Highway near Olsen Road in the locality of Howatharra. This crash occurred on a crest of a hill with a slight bend in the road.
The collision was a head-on crash between two utilities, one travelling southbound and one travelling northbound. The southbound utility was occupied by one male, and the northbound utility by two males. Both drivers sustained serious injures and were flown to Perth via Royal Flying Doctor Service.
Police from the Major Crash Investigation Section will travel to Geraldton today to continue with the investigation.
There have been four major crashes in two weeks in the district, being two fatalities and now two serious crashes.
This is a reminder to all road users that driving a motor vehicle requires your full attention at all times, a moment of inattention can have a lifetime of consequences. Please drive carefully and use your headlights at all times on county roads.
