Local Schools possibly closing this Thursday due to teacher strikes

Geraldton schools will hopefully know by this afternoon whether or not students will be able to attend school this Thursday, as a proposed stop work meeting is scheduled for Thursday morning.

The strike is over proposed cuts to teaching staff, which will see over 500 jobs lost.

The WA Education Minister Peter Collier says the cuts were necessary and called the WA schools "inefficient".

Students may need to remain home on Thursday, and the local government high schools in Geraldton told Everything Geraldton they hope to know definitively by this afternoon.
