Midwest Fishing Report

BEACHES GREENOUGH FIRST AND SECOND POINTS -

Tailor to 50cm most mornings and evenings. Big Dart and longtoms are entertaining anglers.

Mullet and mulies baits have been doing the damage fished on ganged hooks.

Big shark’s have been playing havoc.

S-BEND

Tailor 50-70cm are being caught around the reefs fishing the white wash and small mulloway around the 10kg mark are being caught around the sand gutters

CORONATION BEACH -

Tailor are still running at coronation with lot of school mulloway fro 5-10kg. big sharks have been causing angler grief

There was a great Dhu fish caught which was released back to live another day well done.

RIVERS

GREENOUGH RIVER -

With the warm weather and lack of rain the river is quickly reeding pushing the fish in the deeper pockets of water which is making the fish an easy target with Bream to 30cm up river and Giant herring on the shallow flats around the mouth, Mangrove Jack are still challenging anglers around the rock bars, a lot of the fish have a disease called red spot and it is advisable not to consume these fish.

CHAPMAN RIVER -

There has been reports of big dart busting up bait fish, dart like a moving bait like squidgy flick baits and small lures.

Bream and Tarwhine are still providing anglers good fishing with Ecooda 50mm live prawns and light weighted wrigglers doing the damage.

ROCKWALLS

LOCAL ROCK WALLS –

Most of all the rock walls have School mackerel entertaining angler on stick baits and Duo spearhead, choice of baits mulies.

FISHAMANS WHARF-

Big cod, bream and black spot snapper have been taken around the live Cray factory with fish annihilating soft plastic.

Barnacle’s is doing well for black bream fishing around the change of tides will improve your chances.

 

OFFSHORE

PENSIONERS BANK -

Mackerel are still running hard from pensioners’ bank right through to coronation with angler bagging out within no time, there has also big coral trout and cod around the 5 mile buoy, and Dhu fish south of the 5 mile buoy around the weed beds

LEADS -

Local Cray fish reports are great with good numbers of whites and reds being caught by pot fisherman and by local free divers.

Cray divers have told us that the reefs of Separation point and Point Moore have been holding solid numbers of sized Cray fish.
