The City of Greater Geraldton wishes to advise the Geraldton Regional Library will be closed on Sunday 20 March due to a power outage by Western Power for routine maintenance.
Western Power has notified the City that work will be carried out between 6am and 5pm.
The City regrets any inconvenience and endeavours to keep disruptions to a minimum.

The City of Greater Geraldton wishes to advise of extended trading hours approved by Minster for Commerce, Hon Michael Mischin MLC, for Easter Monday 28 March, 2016.
General retail shops, other than motor vehicle businesses, are authorised to be open from 10am to 5pm. It is up to the discretion of the individual trader whether or not they choose to open their doors for these additional hours.
Please note that Easter Monday is the only public holiday which has been approved up until Saturday 10 December, 2016. Other holidays during this time (including Good Friday, ANZAC Day, Western Australia Day and the Queen’s Birthday) do not have authorisation and retail shops should remain closed.
The City will submit another application to the Department of Commerce in May 2016, for the extended trading hours during the period from 11 December 2016 to 3 January 2017. The outcome will be advertised in due course.

This really is a once in a lifetime event. 99 year old ex POW Harold Martin will be in Geraldton on March 23 for a screening of a documentary made about his return to Myanmar and Thailand to remember his past and pay tribute to his fallen comrades. Attendees will have the chance for a Q and A with the film director Samm Blake, and also to meet and talk with Harold Martin.

Carnarvon Detectives have charged a 33 year old Rangeway man following their investigation into several recent burglaries in the Mid-West Gascoyne District and Exmouth.
During late February 2016 detectives conducted targeted patrols following a significant increase in commercial burglaries. On Thursday 3 March 2016 a vehicle of interest was located at a Caravan Park on Robinson Street in Carnarvon. Officers searched a nearby accommodation unit and located stolen property which linked the occupants’ to three overnight burglaries, as well as property linked to a burglary in Exmouth.
On Saturday 5 March 2016 it will be alleged while officers were making further inquiries at the caravan park they located and seized more property suspected of being related to a recent burglary including two firearms.
The 33 year old man from Rangeway has been charged with:
- 7 x Possess Unlicensed Firearm
- 4 x Burglary and Commit Offence
- 1 x Attempted Burglary
- 2 x Steal Motor Vehicle
He appeared in the Carnarvon Magistrates Court on Friday 4 March 2016 and has been remanded in custody to reappear on Monday 21 march 2016.
Carnarvon detectives are still trying to locate the owner of a medal which was seized.

This means:
If a Harvest and Vehicle Movement Ban has not been implemented by your local government you are able to harvest or move vehicles across paddocks for agricultural purposes.
You could be fined up to $25,000 or jailed for 12 months or both if you ignore the Total Fire Ban.
